Some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State have started scheming for the state Governor, Simon Lalong to contest the 2023 presidency.
The APC leaders who cut across party lines met yesterday in Jos, the state capital, where they resolved to support the governor and commence campaign for him.
Leader of the team, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, who spoke at the meeting said Lalong was qualified to contest, win the election and deliver good governance to Nigerians, citing how he “bridged the ethno-religious gap” among the different groups with diverse ideologies in the state.
“Due to Lalong’s quality leadership, he was appointed the Chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum, upon which he has been a bridge builder and fostering the relative peace, understanding and prosperity of the northern region and the country at large.
“Again, despite the harsh economic reality in the country and the dwindling revenue in the state, Lalong has unprecedentedly continued payment of salaries, while other state governors could not meet up,” he said.
