To douse the raging tension over the 2023 presidency and the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and a Yoruba socio-cultural group, the Yoruba Welfare Group (YWG) have met in Abuja with words of caution to political parties to maintain the peaceful coexistence of the various ethnic groups.
It was learnt that the groups met on Friday to deliberate on the growing agitations over presidency and the phenomenon of mutual distrust between the North and the South.

The groups also expressed “great concern over the mistrust, distrust and the discordant tune reminiscent of the issues that led to the crisis of the First Republic.”
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that there has been an increasing tension across the country over the impending presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with its national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recently voicing out how he played a significant role in the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
In the communique signed by the president of the YWG, Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje and the national secretary of the ACF, Murtala Aliyu, the group resolved that “all caucuses, vested interests and contending forces must realise that maintaining the peaceful coexistence of various ethnic groups in Nigeria can only be sustained under just and fair distribution of opportunities and leadership positions.”
They also said, “Agreements reached by various political groups must be fulfilled to safeguard the country from perpetual mistrust and anarchy.”
