The Chairman of Katsina State Football Association, Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi, has insisted that it is still possible to conduct the 2022 NFF elections in September, if there is sincerity and commitment on the part of those who are in charge.
It would be recalled that sometime in June, the Federal Government advised the Amaju Pinnick-led football federation to ensure that the 2022 election into the board of the NFF is held before the end of September.

However, at the moment, there is nothing to show that the federation is ready to comply with the directive from the government.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Kurfi who is a member of the NFF Technical Committee said there is more than enough time to organise the 2022 NFF elections.
“I find it difficult to understand when people claim that it is too late to hold elections as directed by the Federal Government. In this digital age, eleven Presidential elections which involve millions of Nigerians can be organised within one month.
“Whoever is complaining of time is only looking for excuses for tenure elongation. After all, the NFF statutes is yet to be amended so only 44 congressmen are eligible to vote. In a matter of hours, they can get them on the ballot for the elections to hold,” he said.
Kurfi, therefore, called on the Executive Committee of the NFF to show more sincerity and commitment as he reiterated that they should resist the temptation to perpetuate themselves in office.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Katsina State also said he has no intention to contest the elections into the NFF board because he is more about improving the lot of his people.
‘Dan Arewa’ as Kurfi is popularly known is aspiring to represent Dutsinma/Kurfi in the House of Representatives in 2023.
