2021 Dubawa fact-checking fellowship comes to an end

The 2021 fact checking fellowship for Dubawa, West Africa’s verification and fact-checking platform, under the aegis of the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ) will come to an end on Friday, with an awards dinner in Abuja.

Twenty-six journalists from five West African countries, including Nigeria. had undergone four-days of fact-checking training followed by a six months in-country fellowship where they combatted and debunked dozens of widespread mis-information in the West African sub-region.

At the beginning of the 2021 third cohort, Dubawa’s Programme Manager, Adedeji Adekunle, had said the 26 successful applicants, including Daily Trust Kaduna Bureau Chief, Lami Sadiq, were drawn from over 200 applications in The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
