The Head Coach of Nigeria men’s volleyball national team, Usman Abdullah has hailed his team for convincingly defeating South Sudan 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-19) in their second match at the ongoing 2021 CAVB African Volleyball Nations Cup in Rwanda.
He said the match against South Sudan was a physical one but experience won the game for Nigeria.
Abdullah said his target is to reach the Quarterfinals and beating South Sudan is the first step.
The ex-International hailed the players for giving their best and adhering to corrections after the team lost to Tunisia on Tuesday.
He said, “South Sudan lost 2-3 to Ethiopia on Tuesday and it was expected of them to become more physical against us. I am excited the boys used their experience to suppress the South Sudan boys.
“The team is not in Rwanda for jamboree, our minimum target is to be in this year’s Quarterfinals and if possible secure the Semi-finals ticket. For those who know me, the word impossible is not in my dictionary,” he said.
Abdullah said the next mission is to secure maximum points against Ethiopia this afternoon.
Nigeria will face Ethiopia by 4pm in their final match in Pool B.
