2020 WASSCE: WAEC announces registration for private candidates

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has commenced registration for year 2020 first series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private candidates.

The first series of the examination will be conducted between January and February, 2020 and would mainly be an urban-based examination.

WAEC began conducting two series of WASSCE for private candidates in 2018.

The WAEC Head of National Office, Olu Adenipekun, in a statement, said that only 24 subjects would be available for the examination; advising intending candidates to visit the Council’s corporate website – www.waecnigeria.org – to confirm available examination towns and subjects before obtaining the registration PIN.

He also urged candidates with special needs to register online like other candidates but clearly state their challenges.

“The normal registration is open from October 15 to December 31, 2019 and they must conclude registration within two weeks of first access to the website during the registration period.

“They should ensure that their names, gender, passport photographs, date of birth and subjects are correct,” he said.

He noted that candidates who wish to register for the examination after the close of entries may be accommodated as ‘Walk-in-candidates, provided they register not less than 24hours to the scheduled time of the paper(s) for a fee of N25,000 as against the N13,950 normal fee.
