2019: Transport union kicks off ‘Operation show your PVC’

The Lagos State Chapter of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has commenced ‘Operation Show Your Permanent Voter Card (PVC)’ for all its members ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The state Chairman of RTEAN, Alh. Mohammed Musa, said all executive members of the union across various chapels and zonal offices must show their PVCs in preparation for the poll.

Musa, who undertook the PVCs’ verification exercise for hundreds of union excos from Ikorodu-Epe and Ojo zone II at the RTEAN Secretariat in the state, said the association must support good governance in the state.

He said: “We will not allow any of our members to sit down without collecting his or her voter’s card.

“Our organisation believes that the only way we can vote in leaders we want, those that are working and vote out those we believe are not for the masses is having our PVCs.

“The weapon we have is only the voter’s card; that is why it is very important for every member to have his or her voter’s card ready before 2019.

“Any of my members I find out is not having PVCs will have his position taken away while those that have PVCs will take such position”.

He said those with temporary voter’s card should swiftly convert same to permanent, adding, “By January, I will still call for this verification exercise, any member that does not have the permanent cards will lose his position in the union. If you don’t have the voter’s card, then go away. I have mine and every member should also have”.
