2019 polls: We won’t tolerate thuggery – Police

Lagos state Commissioner of Police,  CP Zubairu Muazu, has advised voters to cast their votes and stay if they want to peacefully or leave immediately, saying the command would tolerated any thuggery as the elections kick off.

CP Muazu, who stated this on Saturday while on patrol around Oshodi, Mushin and Ikeja areas of the state, noted that so far the election has been peaceful.

According to him there has not been any security breach.

He said.  “We have visited some centres where election materials are supposed to move to, everything is going on well; the polling units are well secured. The INEC staff are on ground, distributing the materials.

“The few polling units we have visited are all orderly and there is security presence and people are casting their votes.

“There is no adverse information anywhere; we have gotten reports from all parts of Lagos and there is no adverse report.  When voters cast their votes, those wishing to stay back and see their votes counted can stay.  They are free to do so from a safe distance.

“We are not going to tolerate  any act of hooliganism or thuggery in any polling unit. After counting they can go home.  We have enough patrol team.”
