Some policemen and soldiers were also seen patrolling the streets while some were stationed at flash points.

People started trooping to the booths as early as 6:30am while the INEC staff came as early as 8am to attend to people in some polling units.

Most voters trekked several kilometres to get to their polling units due to the restrictions placed on vehicles, our reporter learnt.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Asuquo Amba, lauded the process and commended voters for the large turnout.

He said his men and officers are all over the state to ensure that sanity prevails during and after the polls.

“Our men are all over the place and we are getting favourable feedbacks across the state. We are on ground and all the voters and INEC staff including election materials are safe”.

Also, a Presidential aide, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, after voting at Adeyinka Jimba unit 009B at Ward 8 in Ado Ekiti , applauded INEC and security agencies for their peaceful conducts.

Ojudu, who is the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, added that the level of credibility of the polls will be high if the situation in Ekiti persists all over the country.

“This is an exceptionally high turnout of voters. We never expected it. And I am sure that with the feelers we are getting across Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari will win today’s election”, he said.
