Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun West on Tuesday vowed to maintain their stand on the candidature of Adekunle Akinlade as the governorship flagbrearer of the party in Ogun state.

The Ogun West APC leaders also threatened to disown the Senator representing the area, Gbolahan Dada if he remained mute about whether or not he is supporting Ogun West agenda.

The leaders who met at Ilaro declared support for Akinlade, saying he is the duly elected candidate of the party.

Speaking at the meeting, former Minister of State for Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, charged party faithfuls to remain steadfast as issues surrounding the state governorship primary are being resolved.

Anisulowo, who declined comments on her visit with Governor Ibikunle Amosun and two paramount rulers in the state to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, expressed hope that Ogun West will produce governor in 2019.

While expressing their readiness to stand with Amosun, the party stalwarts appreciated the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and the Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle for standing by the zone.

The meeting had in attendance the Senatorial Chairman, Chief Yakubu Ajayi; Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Jide Ojuko; Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Kola Lawal and the Chairman of Ogun West Elders Council, Chief Olagbayi.

The meeting was also graced by Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, party executive at both local government and ward levels as well as other political appointees.
