Former Governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has lost the ticket to become the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the results being announced at the party’s National Convention holding in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
According to the results announced by the governor of Delta state and Chairman of the PDP 2018 National Convention Planning Committee, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Makarfi had 74 votes.
Other aspirants at the party’s primaries include Senator Jonah Jang with 19 votes, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed had 5 votes, Senator David Mark had 35 votes, Alhaji Taminu Turaki had 65 votes, Sule Lamido had 96 votes, Attahiru Bafarawa had 48 votes, Ibrahim Dankwambo had 111 votes while Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso got 158 votes.
Others in the contest are Senate President Bukola Saraki with 317 votes, Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal with 693 votes and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who got 1,532 votes.
The total number of votes voided was 68 while 3,274 delegates who were accredited at the venue.
It will be recalled that Senator Makarfi was once a former Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the party.
