Rising from an expanded meeting of Heads of Departments, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPO), of the Kwara State Police Command, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a 24-hourly aggressive situation report of patrols of the streets within the state.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, he commended the officers and men of the Command for their unalloyed commitment and loyalty to duty, especially in preparation for the postponed elections.
Egbetokun charged the officers to continue in that spirit and even do more, as the election rescheduled for 23/2/2019 will serve as a yardstick with which the Command will be assessed.
He said no stone should be left unturned in the onerous task of ensuring the safety of lives and property of Kwara residents and the provision of adequate security for the postponed election.
He, however, directed immediate commencement of raids of criminal hideouts, emplacement of robust patrols, clearing the streets of inflammable materials such as used tyres, adequate security of public utilities, government facilities and INEC offices across the state.
The CP assured members of the public of their safety at all times while advising potential law breakers to refrain from any untoward acts, as offenders will be arrested and be made to face the wrath of the law.
