The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo State will, on Monday, make its staff take an oath of allegiance ahead of the general elections.

The exercise, according to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Prof Francis Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, is to make the staff aware of their responsibilities during the election and warned them of the consequences of deviating from the electoral rules and guidelines for the 2019 general elections.

A statement signed by Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Emmanuela Okpara, said that the oath of allegiance is an innovation by the REC to make the staff sit up to their responsibilities as unbiased and impartial umpires in the electoral process.
