The Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Plateau has replaced its gubernatorial candidate Pastor Margret Inusa with Retired Brig. Gen. Jonathan Temlong.
The party in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Danjuma Auta, on Tuesday said the decision was borne out of the collective resolve by the party caucus.
He said the move was an outcome of wide consultation and strategic realignment of all stakeholders in the party.
Auta said that the party had zoned its governorship slot to the southern senatorial district for strategic reasons and called on people of the state to vote for the party in all elections come 2019.
He said people of the state had resolved to return to the path of honour, peace and development hence the resolve to pick Temlong.
He added that credentials of Timlong in national security were unassailable, describing him as the right man for the job.
Auta however quoted Temlong as thanking the former candidate Inusa for her magnanimity and sacrifice, with a promise to restore the dignity of Plateau.
According to him, Temlong administration if elected, would be hinged on 3-point agenda anchored on security and sustainable peace, good governance and development. (NAN)
