Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ekiti State depleted on Wednesday as no fewer than 500 political appointees and elected officials during the first and second terms of former governor Ayodele Fayose, left the party for the All Progressives Congress(APC).
The defectors included serving and former local government elected and appointed political officials of the former
governor between 2003 -2007 and 2014-2018.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Adeniran Alagbada, received the defectors on behalf of Governor Kayode Fayemi and the leadership of the party.
Kehinde Aduloju from Ado Local Government, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, promised to work assiduously for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential poll and also work for the successes of other APC candidates for the state and federal legislative elections.
Alagbada, who had dumped the PDP for the APC before the July 14 governorship election, assured that the defectors would be treated with respect in the new party.
