200 Plateau orphans to study abroad

A charitable organisation, Zazzaga Foundation, has offered scholarships to 200 orphans and vulnerable children in Plateau State to pursue undergraduate degrees at Ecole Superieure Sainte Felicite University, Cotonou Republic of Benin.

A statement signed by the founder, Dr. Saleh Abduallahi, said 10 orphans were chosen from each of the 17 local government areas in the state, while the remaining 30 vulnerable children were randomly selected across the state, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 200.

The statement said the scholarship would provide funding for courses in sciences, arts, social sciences, medicine and other specialised science programmes.

The move was meant to give orphans and vulnerable children in the society hope and a brighter future by creating opportunities for them to acquire higher education in various disciplines of their choice.

“The foundation has already paid the tuition fees for prospective students and arrangements have been concluded to present admission letters to the beneficiaries in first week of January, 2020.

One of the beneficiaries, Umar Abdulbasid Maikano, 21, from Bassa Local Government Area said he applied for computer science and that the scholarship would cover tuition accommodation and transportation.

On her part, 25-year-old Deborah Dalyop Jacob said she was offered admission to study international relations.

Meanwhile, this reporter has obtained the complete list of the successful candidates for the scholarship and receipts of payment of school fees for the 200 students to the tune of N160 million.
