200 indigent patients get free cataract surgery in Zaria

No fewer than 200 indigent patients have benefitted from free cataract surgery from Charity to Cheer Foundation in partnership with Premium Pensions Limited at the Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofan Gayan in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The medical outreach was one of the many health interventions of the organisation which carried similar interventions in Bauchi and Gombe states.

Among those in attendance at the flagg off of the exercise were the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Chairman, Board of Directors of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Yusuf Abubakar, as well as the Managing Director, Premium Pension Limited, Mallam Umar Sanda.

The President of Charity to Cheer Foundation, Dr. Maryam Shehu Mohammed, said that was the first time the number of beneficiaries rose to 200, adding that the project has been held annually since 2015.

She attributed the rise in the number to the partnership with Premium Pension Limited and advocated for more patronage from other organisations.

Dr. Maryam thanked members and supporters of the foundation who have made it possible to touch the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The Consultant Ophthalmologist and a member of the foundation, Dr. Farouk Garba, explained the importance of eye care and the need for patients to desist from patronising herbal eye treatments or applying unknown medications that might compound their cases or lead to blindness.

The Managing Director, Premium Pension Limited reiterated the commitment of the company to improving lives and livelihoods through its corporate social responsibility programmes.

The Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, also expressed delight at the impact of the collaboration on his people
