The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can resolve the country’s huge housing deficit in two years.
President and chairman of the institution, Johnbull Osarumen Amayaevbo, said this at the opening session of its 53rd annual conference held on Monday in Ilọrin, Kwara State capital, with the theme, ‘Asset valuation as a global anti-corruption tool-the Nigeria experience’.
“In two years, a lot can be done in the housing sector by the present government if the various policies are properly implemented and there is a partnership with professionals in the building environment.
“If this is done, then four years is too long to solve or reduce the problem of housing in Nigeria. We have beautiful housing policies, but implementation has always been the issue,” he noted.

Johnbull pointed out that the federal government over the years had refused to see land as a major factor of production and advised the new administration to consider having the Ministry of Land and Housing instead of Works and Housing.
He also called on the government to review the Land Use Act, saying it is long overdue.
