2 years after abduction, funeral prayers held for Niger district head

Residents of Yakila community in Kagara Emirate in Rafi LGA of Niger State have held funeral prayers for their abducted District Head, Alhaji Abdulhameed Gunna, who was abducted in December, 2020.

City & Crime gathered that his abductors had since stopped contacting his family and the emirate.

A resident told our reporter that, “For almost two years now there is no news of his whereabouts. But recently we learnt that he was killed, but nobody saw his corpse. The abductors along the line stopped communicating with his family.”

Another resident said, “Since he was kidnapped, there was no information on his whereabouts and nobody knew of his health condition. His family and all his domain were left in suspense.”

City & Crime reports that the funeral prayers were led by the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmad Attahiru II.
