Two women kidnapped by gunmen have regained their freedom after paying a N3 million ransom in Edo State.
The women, it was gathered, were kidnapped last Tuesday while returning from a business trip on the Uromi-Agbor road in Esan North East LGA.
A family member of one of the victims said that their abductors, on Wednesday, contacted the families and demanded a N15m ransom and warned them not to involve the police.
He said after intense negotiations they settled for N3m, adding that they had to raise the N3m with much difficulty, and that the kidnappers released the women on Friday.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Funsho Adegbeye, who confirmed the development, said, “I am not aware of any payment of ransom. But the victims have been rescued by the police.”
