2 women electrocuted during rain storm

Two yet-to-be-identified ladies were electrocuted by lightning during Saturday’s heavy rainfall in FESTAC Town area of Lagos.

The deceased are occupants of a room in a wooden structure in the area.

Eye witnesses said they saw the two deceased on Friday night before the rain started.

“We saw Aunty Tina around 9pm yesterday when she came back from the market. This was before the rain started,” one of the occupants of the shanty house said.

The witness who identified herself as Mama Fejiro, said it was the rain that sent majority of them inside.

“The lightning caused electrical spark which resulted in a massive fire,” she added.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the unfortunate incident.

Hundeyin said the two women remained indoors during the heavy downpour yesterday.
