2 women arrested over attempt to sell 2-month-old baby

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Friday, May 26, 2023, foiled an attempt by two women to sell a two-month-old baby in Oshodi, Lagos State, when one Oge Okolie (25), the intermediary between the mother of the baby and the prospective buyer was suspected of stealing the baby by her co-passengers on a public bus.

It was learnt that after the passengers noticed the ceaseless crying from the baby, they qustioned Oge why she refused to breastfeed the baby and that when she could not account for the baby the passengers were about to lynch her when RRS operatives stepped in and rescued her.

It was further learnt that preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the mother of the baby, Maria Ahmadu (26).
