Two weeks after gunmen blocked the Kaduna-Abuja highway and abducted the Emir of Bungudu, in Zamfara State, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, and other travellers, his whereabouts has remained unknown.
Daily Trust had reported how bandits barricaded the Kaduna-Abuja highway on the afternoon of September 14 and abducted the emir and other travellers.

However, two weeks after the incident, there had been no words on the emir.
Security sources told our correspondent that the bandits had demanded additional N100m from family members of one of the victims after collecting an initial N20million ransom but refused to free the victim.
When contacted yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ASP Mohammed Jalige, said security agents were doing their best to rescue the emir and other travellers abducted on that day.
“We want to rescue them unhurt and there are a lot of things we cannot disclose to the public now, but I can assure you that the command is working round the clock to ensure that the emir and others kidnapped are rescued alive,” he said.
