A Kano State magistrates’ court sitting in Gyadi-Gyadi has remanded two vigilante officers, Sani Muhammad and Abubakar Hamisu, for allegedly killing a young man in the state who was brought to their office as a suspect.
They were dragged before the court presided over by Magistrate Auwal Yusuf on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder after the vigilante officers allegedly beat the suspect to death after they accused him of committing an offence.
The prosecution counsel, Maryam Jibrin, prayed the court to read the charges against them. When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty, and their lawyer prayed the court to admit them to bail.
The magistrate rejected the bail application, ordered that the suspects be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the matter to June 16.
