A final year student of the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, Adegoke Adebayo, and a 200 level student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Adeyemo Oluwaseun Ayomide, both of University of Ibadan, were killed in less than 24 hours in Ibadan at the weekend.

While Adebayo was killed by robbers at a commercial bank close to the front of the university after they robbed him of all his belongings, Ayomide was killed by a hit-and-run driver.

The director of communications of the institution, Mr Tunji Oladejo, who confirmed the incidents, said the matter has been reported to the Bodija Police Division.

He said: “I understand he was killed in front of Access Bank opposite Preboye,    U.I, Bodija Road. The matter has been reported to the Bodija Police Division. The Oyo State Police Command is conducting a discreet investigation on the sad development. The body of the late student is with the University College Hospital (UCH) for autopsy.

“Meanwhile, it is another dark Sunday as our 200 Level Student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Miss Oluwaseun Ayomide Adeyemo, died due to injuries she sustained from a road accident when she was hit by a fast moving vehicle driven by a fellow who lost control. The matter is being investigated by the Sanngo Police Division of the Oyo State Police Command.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said investigation is ongoing on the matter, adding that, “You will be updated, please.”
