2 students killed in Plateau, Rivers

Hours after the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, relaxed the 24 hours curfew in Jos North Local Government Area of the state, a 100 level student of University of Jos was reportedly stabbed to death by hoodlums around the permanent site of the university.

Daily Trust gathered the victim was killed around 2:30 pm when normal activities were gradually returning to the state capital.

The Students Union Government (SUG) President of the University of Jos, Comrade Danladi Joshua Adankala confirmed the development to newsman in Jos.

According to Adankala, the victim was allegedly pulled out of a tricycle and stabbed to death, saying the incident was unfortunate and uncalled for.

“The student boarded a tricycle from the permanent site of the university to the main campus and suddenly on the road, he was pulled out and stabbed to dead’’, the SUG president said.

Meanwhile, a male student said to be in 400 level at Faculty of Management Science in Rivers State University, Port Harcourt was shot dead on Thursday by a lone gunman suspected to be a cultist.

Campus sources disclosed that  the suspect known as ‘Peruzi’ suspected to be a member of a cult group known as Vikings was later apprehended by the school security and officers attached to Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters, Mile 3 Diobu.

The incident caused pandemonium in the university as students scampered for safety.

As of press time, the entire campus was being patrolled by security operatives to forestall breakdown of law and order in the school.

Rivers State Police Command Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident but said details of the incident were very sketchy.
