2 shot, others arrested over okada ban protest in Abuja

Two persons were shot in the leg and hands respectively, following a protest embarked upon by commercial motorcyclists in Dutsen-Alhaji, Abuja.

The protest turned violent when the protesters who blocked the Dutsen-Alhaji – Dutsen – Makaranta smashed windscreens of about five tricycles, accusing their union of colluding with authorities to ban them (okada).

“As that was taking place, security came to disperse the protesters and in the process, two persons, a protester and a passenger were shot by the security operatives,” a witness who prefers anonymity said.
