A magistrates’ court in Makurdi, Benue State, on Wednesday remanded two men, Kpamsar Ahemba and Demesugh Atsehe, for being in possession of firearms and acts of terrorism.
The Magistrate, Miss Sonia Yaikur, did not take the plea of the defendants for want of jurisdiction and therefore ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Makurdi Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to November 15.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt Regina Ishaya, told the court that the defendants were arrested by a team of Operation Zenda III led by Insp Elijah Aunde on July 5.
Sgt Regina told the court that a police team, acting on intelligence, arrested Kpamsar Ahemba, a dreaded and notorious robbery kingpin, who had been terrorising motorists and members of the public.
She said the team also arrested Demesugh Atsehe, and accomplice of Ahemba, who had been terrorising motorists on the Ugbema-Gboko highway by Dura Bridge. (NAN)
