2 police killed, 8 others injured in crash

Two mobile policemen were confirmed dead  in a lone accident along Oba-Ile road, Akure North local government area of Ondo state.

Eight others were said to have been critically injured in the accident which occurred close to Joe Jane Hotel.

Witnesses said their Nissan pick up van with registration number MPF 9557C somersaulted severally before hitting a pavement.

The cause of the accidents according to sources at the Federal Road Safety Commission Office in Akure, could be traced to overspeeding, Tyre bust and lost of control.

The injured, it was learnt have been rushed to police hospital in Akure for medical treatment while the corpse of the deceased were deposited at the motuary.

Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the accident but said he was yet to be fully briefed.

Spokesperson for the Ondo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Omotola Ogungbawo, confirmed the story.
