Two persons have been found with the monkeypox disease in Plateau State.

One person was diagnosed with the disease in Bassa Local Government Area of the state while the second was discovered in Shendam Local Government Area.

The state government however said there was no cause for alarm as it was already tackling the situation.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Nimkong Ndam, said the state’s health surveillance team was already at work to carefully manage the disease.

The state executive council at its weekly meeting on Wednesday also acknowledged the presence of Monkeypox in the state.

Government urged citizens to cooperate in the management of the outbreak by practising good personal hygiene and taking all preventive measures to nip the cases in the bud
