2 nabbed as NDLEA discovers Indian hemp warehouse in Ondo

The Ondo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has discovered a warehouse where 524 bags of Indian hemp were stored at Egbeta, a boundary between Ondo and Edo states. Two persons were arrested and two bags of hemp seeds seized during the operation that lasted for many hours on Wednesday.

Addressing reporters, Cally Alumona, Acting State Commander of the agency, said the owner of the warehouse was still at large.

The command is on his trail, he added.

According to the acting commander, the operation would continue until the state is free of cultivation of the drug.

Also, soldiers of the 32 Artillery Brigade have intercepted 132 bags of Indian hemp worth N5.8m.

The bags were intercepted at Omotosho military checkpoint, along Benin-Ore highway and Owo Local Government Area.

At Omotosho, 82 bags of Indian hemp were abandoned in two SUVs and an ash-coloured Toyota Sequoia. The owners were said to have fled into a nearby bush when they ran into the checkpoint.

At Owo, two suspects, dressed in police camouflage, were caught with 50 bags of Indian hemp at Isua military checkpoint.

The suspects were identified as Nze Ezenwa, 55, and Stephen Sunday, 35.
