2 men jailed 6 months for stealing land documents in Borno

A Borno State magistrates’ court sitting in Maiduguri has sentenced 65-year-old Ibrahim Tahir and 45-year-old Ruben Joshua of Pompomari Bypass Ward, Maiduguri, to six months in prison each for stealing land documents.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Danlami Harun, told the court that on December 14, 2023, one Hel-en Joshua reported that Ibrahim Tahir and Ruben Joshua criminally conspired and stole her origi-nal land documents and sold them to one Muhammad Alhaji Kanumbu at the cost of N900,000.

After the FIR was read out to the accused, they both pleaded guilty.

The Magistrate, Alhaji Saleh Isa, sentenced each of the defendants to six months in prison each and a fine of N1,000,000 as compensation.
