The police in Ekiti State have arraigned two persons, Fanimo Gbenga(44) and Adebayo Wasiu(42) before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ court over an alleged possession of Indian hemp.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on August 6 at about 2pm in Ado-Ekiti.
Inspector Adeniyi alleged that the police found in the possession of the defendants weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 5 (b) of the Indian Hemp Act LFN 2004.

Counsel to the first defendant, Mr Opeyemi Esan and the second defendant, Mr Michael Olaleye, prayed the court to grant them bail in a liberal term.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case till September 12 for hearing.
