The Bauchi State High Court has sentenced 20-year-old Adamu Abdulrauf and 21-year-old Abdulkadir Wada to 35 years in prison for cutting off the vagina of a six-year-old girl in Jama’are LGA of the state.
Daily Trust had reported three years ago how the duo lured the girl into an uncompleted building in Jama›are, cut off her private part and left her in a pool of blood.
In January 2021, Bauchi State Police Command paraded Adamu Abdulrauf and Abdulkadir Wada in connection with the crime and charged them to court for causing grievous hurt and attempting to commit culpable homicide on the girl.
The prosecuting lawyer, Sabiu Gumba told the court that the two defendants were arraigned on August 17, 2021, on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt and attempting to commit culpable homicide.

Gumba presented four witnesses including the father of the victim while the defendants testified for themselves but didn’t call additional witnesses.
Gumba tendered two knives used while committing the crime, a bottle containing the private part of the girl and a powdered.
The convicts committed the crime in December 2020 in Jama’are. Hauwa, who was six years old at the time, passed out as they used knives to cut off her genitalia for ritual purposes.
Delivering judgment, Chief Judge of Bauchi, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, convicted and sentenced Abdulra’uf and Wada after they both pleaded guilty to the crime.
