The police on Monday arraigned two men, Sikiru Abideen (52) and Kolawole Akintade (54), before an Iyaganku magistrates’ court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for poisoning 3,700 fishes.
The police charged Abideen and Akintade with conduct likely to cause breach of peace and cruelty to animals.

The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on November 4, at about 7am at the Oluyole area of Ibadan.
Ibrahim said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by using a chemical to poison and kill the fishes in a pond.
After the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, the Magistrate, Mrs T. B. Oyekanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N200, 000 each and two sureties each in like sum and adjourned to December 8. (NAN)
