2 killed, many injured as bus, tricycle collide in Kogi

Two people were reportedly killed and several others sustained injuries in a head-on collision between a Toyota bus and a tricycle on the Itobe-Anyigba Road in Kogi State.

Daily Trust gathered that the accident happened around 5.30pm on Sunday at the Ofeke-Ajegwu Settlement, a few kilometres from Itobe.

Witnesses said the incident happened when the Toyota bus rammed into a tricycle coming from the opposite direction.

“Two out of the three passengers in the tricycle died immediately while the third person was critically injured.

“The passengers in the Toyota bus sustained various degrees of injuries as it veered off the road and crashed into the bush,” Abubakar Adejo, a resident in the area, said.

He added that the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital at Ochadamu while the remains of the deceased were deposited at a mortuary at Anyigba.

When contacted, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Ayedeji, promised to reach out to his operatives in the area to confirm the accident.

He did not respond as of the time of filing this report.
