Operatives from Ogun Police Command have shot two hoodlums dead during a gun battle with suspected armed robbers at Sagamu interchange, along Lagos -Ibadan expressway.

It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sagamu, Okiki Agunbiade, had on Sunday, at 9am, received a call on the operations of suspected armed robbers at Sagamu interchange.

The DPO immediately led his patrol team to the scene where they met the robbers attacking one Agba Enoch.

The spokesman of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday told newsmen that the team engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and at the end, two members of the gang were killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

According to him, items recovered from them were: three handsets, one mock gun, one electric clipper, three ATM cards and one blood-stained cutlass.

He said one Adekunle Adewale who was seriously wounded on the head was taken to a hospital for medical attention.

Oyeyemi quoted the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, to have   directed a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang, with the view to bringing them to justice.

He also quoted the CP to have appealed to members of the public, especially hospitals, to quickly alert the police if anybody with gunshot injuries is seen in their area.
