“In the process of welding by another welder at the garage who was using gas for his work on a vehicle, the gas cylinder suddenly exploded and spread to where the trailer was parked. It immediately went on fire. The driver of the trailer tried to move it outside the garage, however, he failed due to the intensity of the flame. He died in the process as the fire overpowered him,” he said.
He said people in the garage had to run for safety as the flame spread, burning 11 people who were currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Azare and the General Hospital.
All efforts made to get the reaction of Bauchi State Police Command on the development proved abortive as of the time of filing this report.
