A magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has remanded two suspected kidnappers accused of terrorising communities in Ilorin West LGA.
The suspects, Idris Alhaji Auta and Yau Alhaji Auta, were brought to court on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspects are notorious for terrorising Eyenkorin, Madi and Okoolowo communities.
The FIR reads in part: “They stormed Oluwalose community along Okoolowo expressway, Ilorin, and kidnapped Ridwanullahi Olawale and Jamiu Buhari who later escaped and led the police, vigilantes and hunters in a joint operation in their criminal hideout in the bush to arrest them.”

The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, told the court that the victims later identified the suspects and confirmed the payment of N1.5m ransom.
The Magistrate, Dansuki, ordered the remand of the suspects and adjourned to February 21, 2023.
