2 Kano labourers die in pit toilet

Two labourers died in a pit toilet at the Sabon Gari Market in Fagge LGA of Kano State on Saturday.

Spokesman of the state’s fire service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, stated that the accident happened in the night.

He said the older victim, 27 years old, was working inside the pit when he got trapped and that in an attempt to rescue him, his colleague, a 17-year-old boy, went into the pit and was also trapped.

He said, “We received an emergency call about the accident and immediately sent our rescue team to the scene.’

“The fire service brought the duo out unconscious and took them to the Murtala Muhammed Special Hospital where they were confirmed dead,” noting that their corpses were handed over to the police at the Sabon Gari Division.
