2 injured, 4 tankers burnt as gas explodes near RCCG camp

Two people were injured Monday in a gas explosion that rocked Mowe area of Obafemi Owode Local Government area of Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred around 10.30am on Monday, near the headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Witnesses said the explosion caused panic among residents, who ran in different direction for safety.

Our correspondent learnt that the explosion was triggered when a tanker loaded with gas collided with another tanker within the premises of the plant.

Four tankers, including the tanker containing the gas were burnt.

The Public Relations Officer of the Federal fire service, Ogun state command, Oluwasegun Ayansiji, confirmed the incident.

He said “there was no casualty, but two people were injured and they have been taken to the hospital.”
