The Nigeria Security and Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has disclosed that two girls have drowned in separate incidents in Dutse and Kafin Hausa LGAs.
The NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Adamu Shehu, on Tuesday, said the victims, Maimuna Hassan (3) and Rabi Balarabe (12), drowned on Sunday and Monday respectively.

He said, “Maimuna of Madobi village, on Monday, left home around 5pm to join her siblings to play outside but did not return with them.
“A search was launched but it yielded no result until around 8pm when a friend of her brother spotted her floating in a pit a few metres from her home.
“She was then brought out from the water and rushed to the Dutse General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Her corpse was released to her parents.”
In the second incident, Shehu said, “In Ashuran Makera village on Sunday, Rabi went to wash clothes with friends, and upon completion, decided to take bath in the water which led to her death.
“She was taken to Kafin Hausa General Hospital but was confirmed dead and released to her parents for burial.” (NAN)
