2 friends charged with damaging cash crops worth N20m

Two friends, Bode Agbeginla (45) and Olasoji Taiwo (43), were on Thursday brought before an Ile-Ife magistrates’ court for damaging cocoa and palm trees worth N20 million.

The prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adesina, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 13, 2022, around 1pm at Erinta village in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Adesina said the defendants maliciously damaged cocoa and palm trees worth N20m, property of Mr Rasheed Yusuf and Mr Kumolu Oluwadamilola respectively.

He said the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace in the community.

The defence counsel, Mr Sunday Unah, pleaded bail for his clients in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate O. B. Adediwura admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N1m with one surety each in like sum and adjourned to July 12. (NAN)
