2 farms win Leventis Foundation’s agro grants

Mr. Aloba Moshood Abiola of Ambagreen, an Ogun State based vegetable farm and Isioma Irene Obinikpo of Oma’s Fish Heaven farm, have won the Leventis Foundation’s agro grant for youths in the country.

Over 600 youths reportedly applied for the grant, which was initiated during the Foundation’s 2020 Agriculture Youth Summit as part of activities to mark the recently celebrated Youth Day.

Farmers worried as government approves maize importation

Each of the winners received N500,000 to expand their farms.

Speaking at the presentation of the award, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Hope Usieta, said as part of the activities to mark this year’s Youth Day, the Foundation in partnership with Africa Union ECOSOCC introduced the award for the striving agro business that needed support.

He said the Foundation would continue to support the agric sector in the country for sustainability.

Earlier, the chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Ahmed Mantey, had congratulated the winners and urged them to use the grant to expand their farms so that some other youths around them can benefit.

The winners, Aloba Moshood Abiola and Isioma Irene Obinikpo while thanking the Foundation for the gesture, promised to use the grants to expand their farms and accommodate more youths.

Lenventis Foundation Nigeria is a non-governmental charity organization providing agricultural training for farmers in all agricultural areas across the country.

It has six training schools in Osun, Ondo, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe and recently in the FCT.

The Foundation said it has so far trained over 37,000 youths in various forms of agriculture since its inception in 1988.
