Locals said the deceased were shot at close range in an ambush along Ikyungwa-Ayilamo road while on a motorcycle.
Their names were given as Bem Uhembe and Mungwa Zuzu, all from Tse Ibor village who were returning to Ayilamo town after they had worked on their farms because their settlement had been allegedly taken over by suspected herders.
Locals further said the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at a mortuary in Ayilamo.
The chairman of the LGA, Agber Terse, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on telephone.
Agber blamed militant herders for the killing, lamenting consistent invasion of Tombo ward, a farming settlement, which had been under sustained attacks by gunmen suspected to be herders since 2016.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Catherine Anene, said she had not received the report.
