Detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two fake soldiers, Ben Okafor and Darlington Chidebere Ihenacho, over an attempt to kill a man, one Oludotun, during a brawl in the Isolo area.

A knife and pepper spray which the suspects planned to attack the victim with were recovered from them.

The command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that on February 19, 2024, the DPO of Isolo received information that there was a fight on Aina Street, Isolo.

He said, “The DPO deployed a patrol team to the area, where one Ben Okafor who claimed to be a corporal in the Nigerian Army (NA) was seen with a jack knife with which he threatened to kill Oludotun.

“Okafor was in company of one Darlington Chidebere Ihenacho, and both of them attempted to attack their victim with the knife. Both suspects were later found to have impersonated soldiers.

“Similarly, a major attached to the 65 Battalion of NA, Bonny Camp, arrested two men, Johnathan Yahaya and Mohammed Umaru, who were dressed in military gear in the Onikan area of the state. One of them was wearing camouflage trousers and combat boots while the other was wearing the army’s tetron uniform.

“On interrogation, it was discovered that both suspects were fake soldiers. All four suspects will be charged to court.”
