Suspected kidnappers have abducted two popular entertainers in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The abduction of Ugo Stevenson and Izunna Obiakor, Daily Trust gathered has left residents of the city in fear.

It was gathered that while Stevenson was kidnapped around the World Bank area on his way home, Obiakor was abducted while driving in his Jeep.

Stevenson, a popular high life musician, writer and public commentator is the winner of Nigeria Music Awards, while Obiakor is the chief executive officer of Twinstar Lightening and Stage House in Owerri.

Stevenson’s wife, who confirmed his abduction, said the kidnappers had established contact with her demanding N5 million as ransom for his release.

She said she had been able to speak with her husband, adding that the kidnappers contacted her two days after the whereabouts of her husband became unknown.

She said: “The kidnappers have contacted me. They are demanding N5 million as ransom for his release. My husband was equally allowed to speak with me.”

The police spokesman in the state, Andrew Enwerem, who also confirmed the abduction of Stevenson, said that the process of rescuing him has commenced.
