Two newborn babies who were dumped at Kandahar B Quarters and Yargaba village in Hadejia and Dutse Local Government Areas of Jigawa State were rescued on Sunday.
This was disclosed by the state’s spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamu Shehu.
He said the baby at Kandahar B Quarters, Hadejia, was found in a dilapidated building by one Zakar Mohammed who was returning from the mosque after morning prayers when he heard its cry.
He explained that, “Mohammad reported the incident to the Ward Head of Kandahar B Quarters, Ballaji Ali, who in turn informed the NSCDC office.
“The baby was taken to the Hadejia General Hospital and was later handed over to the social welfare office. Investigation is on to fish out the culprit.”
He further said that in a related development a newborn baby was rescued by residents of Yargaba village in Dutse LGA from a well and handed over to an orphanage.
