Two persons, Fasogbon Joseph, 22, and Ebisu Allwell, 26, have appeared before the Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court for alleged stealing.
Police prosecutor Inspector Adejare Eleja told the court, Wednesday that the two defendants, Joseph and Allwell, at Ngbagba area of Ado-Ekiti stole five bags of onions valued at N100,000 and two bags of rice valued at N56,000, all properties of Mustapha Abubakar.
Inspector Eleja said the offence committed is punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol.1 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.
He also said, Allwell did unlawfully stole 10 fowls valued at N80,000 and four bunches of plantain valued at N20,000, which were properties of one Apanisile Mustapha.
He said the offence is punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol.1 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.
Eleja urged the court to grant him a short adjournment to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
At the sitting, he presented five witnesses for both cases, promising to bring them again at the next adjourned date.
Counsel to the defendants, S. Olowolafe and Gbanga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant bail to both defendants, promising that they would not jump bail.
The magistrate, O. S. Daramola, granted both defendants bail of N50,000 each and one surety in like sum, with proof of identification. He adjourned the cases to July 13, 2021.
