Two persons died and another sustained injury after a bus rammed into an ongoing trailer at Ahoko village, located along Abuja-Lokoja expressway.
The incident happened Saturday night.
An eyewitness said a Peugeot J5 bus, with registration number XC 853 MKR, loaded with tomatoes overtook another vehicle at a sharp bend and hit a truck from behind.
He said the driver and another passenger found beside him were trapped by the vehicle’s steering wheel.
He said the driver and passenger were dead before rescuers and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers could reach the scene.
The Koton-Karfe Unit Commander of the FRSC, Ahmad Daura, could not be reached, but an FRSC official said the corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, where the injured victim was also receiving treatment.
He said the truck driver sped off after the incident.
In a similar incident, four persons were injured in another accident, Friday evening, at Ochonyi village, in the same road.
Our reporter gathered that the accident happened at about 5:32p.m. when the driver of an unmarked Toyota Corolla vehicle was said to have crashed into a ditch.
The driver of the car and three other passengers sustained injuries.
It was gathered that the police officers on patrol took the injured passengers to the hospital before the arrival of FRSC officers.
